Buzo Osteria Italiana Jamaica: Restaurant Review

February 15, 2024

If you are looking for a taste of Northern Italy without leaving the shores of Jamaica, look no further than Buzo Osteria Italiana. A fairly new addition to the many eateries in Kingston Jamaica Buzo Osteria Italiana opened its doors in 2023. Nestled at the Courtyard by Marriott in New Kingston, right across from the iconic Emancipation Park, Buzo Jamaica proudly stands as the third jewel in the Trotters Restaurant Group's Caribbean collection. Joining its counterparts in Trinidad and Barbados, this vibrant restaurant brings a taste of Italy to the bustling streets of Kingston, Jamaica.

Atmosphere and Ambiance

As you enter this culinary haven, you're greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance that immediately captures your senses. Buzo Jamaica's decor effortlessly blends rustic elements with contemporary flair, creating a space that feels both cosy and stylish. Exposed wooden beams, marble walls, soft lighting, and tasteful Italian accents set the stage for an intimate dining experience, whether you're seated indoors or out on the charming patio. Depending on your seating arrangement, you may even have the opportunity to observe the chefs at work, thanks to the restaurant's spacious layout and open kitchen concept. This could add an extra layer of excitement to your experience.

Excellent Service

My companions and I were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service provided by the staff at Buzo Jamaica. Upon my arrival, two friendly hostesses greeted me, with one confirming the reservation and then guiding me to the table where some friends were already seated. This time around I wasn't the first to arrive. Our server for the evening was not only attentive but also incredibly accommodating, ensuring our water glasses remained full and patiently guiding us through the menu's offerings. Despite our indecisiveness, she remained patient and offered valuable insights to aid our decision-making process. The dining experience was quite seamless and enjoyable. Our food and drinks promptly arrived once we placed our orders, and we received updates regarding any adjustments to our order. The outstanding service we received elevated our evening and solidified Buzo Jamaica as a dining destination worthy of return visits.

A Taste of Northern Italy

The food at Buzo Jamaica is exquisite. Upon request, the staff served us freshly made bread, which my companions enjoyed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil thoughtfully provided at each table. Their menu leans more towards Northern Italian cuisine rather than traditional dishes, however, the taste of Italy still permeates each bite. Buzo Jamaica also has an extensive wine menu from which you may purchase by the bottle or you may opt for a glass. We sampled the Trio di bruschette and Quattro stagioni pizza as appetizers. As for the main course, we explored various options from the menu, including their house-made pasta dishes crafted from natural ingredients.

From the first bite to the last, every morsel of food at Buzo Osteria Italiana was a delight to the senses. Each dish was a symphony of flavours, meticulously crafted to perfection. We had no complaints as the portions were also satisfactory. It was clear that the chefs at Buzo took great pride in their craft, as each dish that left the kitchen was nothing short of exceptional.

Bang For Your Buck

It would be remiss of me to not mention that Buzo Jamaica was on the pricier side. This restaurant is not the place for a budget-friendly dining experience, but the food, the service and the overall experience make it worth every penny. The prices are quoted in USD and with how the current rates increase daily the amount you may spend in JMD may be overwhelming so be sure to check the rates before your visit and if possible walk with USD. That saved me immensely on my visit.

Conclusion

Buzo Osteria Italiana is more than a restaurant; it's a gateway to the spectacular flavours of Northern Italy. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado of Italian cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore, Buzo Jamaica is a culinary destination that deserves a prominent spot on your list. It's worth noting that they do not accommodate separate bills for large groups, which can be inconvenient for some patrons. Despite this minor drawback, my overall experience was thoroughly enjoyable, and I would eagerly revisit to indulge in their delectable offerings once again.

We took my dad to a restaurant in the Courtyard Marriott for Father’s Day last year but I’m not sure if that’s the same one. It was a Jamaica buffet and it looked very different. Great review!

Jamaica has become out of many one restaurants. I visited a similar Italian restaurant when I was in Mexico and the food is great. Your food pics are making the Food Explora in me drool. The pizza looks mouthwatering. Thanks for sharing your review. Will consider when I visit Jamaica next.

Great review, and your experience seems to be in keeping with other reviews I’ve seen so far. I’ve been saving here for a special occasion which would justify spending that much money. Hopefully one of these days 🙂
